During the holidays, the body takes a lot. Long days, tons of sweets, unhealthy meals, multiple parties all resulting in an emotional rollercoaster. Then January rolls around. Life continues to move on and often times taking care of one’s body does not become a priority. Today I want to share with you a few simple things that can help reset your body and mind to start 2018 on the right foot. Here is self-care: Winter edition.
A GOOD BOOK
Sometimes a good book really helps reset the mind. Back in 2016 I read through The Happiness Project and did a series here on the blog to share my findings. It was one of the best decisions I ever made in terms of self-care. Each month brought a new topic to think about. This book really helped me break down the way I thought about life. The Happiness Project is a great book to reset for a new year. PLUS you read one chapter a month! That is what I call an easy read 😉
I don’t know about you but during the holidays I am constantly drinking hot chocolate or specialty drinks. Drinking water isn’t on my radar. Normally my lips are chapped, I’m tired and my skin breaks out before I realize how much I need to drink a massive amount of water. Lately, I have been drinking a lot more water than I did during the holidays and it has helped so much. We all know the benefits of drinking water but sometimes getting started is the hard part. For me, if something is fun or cute I am more likely to partake. So here are some fun and pretty water bottles to help get you started on your water venture!
This hydration reminder is really cool! You put it on your water bottle and it lights up when it is time to drink more water. The great thing about this is you can add it to a water bottle you already own. So you are not having to buy another water bottle.
A cozy blanket pairs nicely with a cat nap 😉 Sometimes I just need to be covered under a soft blanket to help melt my troubles away. If spending a little bit of money will help me calm at the end of a busy, I say that is money well spent!
Anytime my feet are cold, I head to the sock drawer and grab a pair, which are almost always my husband’s. Warm socks are a great way to keep warm during the cold months. I live in Florida and I have warm socks on my feet all year-long, due to poor circulation in my feet and hands. I recommend buying wool or cashmere socks. Plain cotton socks won’t keep your feet warm like wool or cashmere.
Alongside staying hydrated, using chapstick is key. Chapstick is a simple and cheap way to prevent lips from cracking and bleeding. I personally have several tubes of chapstick in various places. The car. The bedroom. The diaper bag. My purse. It is nice to have one near no matter where I am.
If you are interested in an all natural chapstick, Young Living has a Lavender chapstick. You can contact me here for more information.
There are so many uses for essential oils and I won’t go into too much depth but with two little ones in the house, essential oils have helped so much. Through mixing certain oils it has helped provide relief during the weather fluctuations we have here in Florida. If you want to know more about essential oils please feel free to contact me!
These two products I have not been able to try yet but they come highly recommended by family friends. This line of products is vegetarian safe. They have daily immune support, recovery support (during sickness), and immune support for children. I cannot wait to try this product but in the meantime, if you have used this product please let me know!
Staying healthy post-holidays during the Winter months can be tough. However, if we make small, simple choices each day I am confident we can avoid sickness. Also, self-care is so important more than ever. With the flu being at an all-time high I highly encourage you to take steps to stay healthy!
