If you have been following me on Instagram, you know that we just went through Irma. For two weeks I have been out of blogging due to preparations and not having any power. The plan was to release this postpartum update a few weeks ago but life had other plans. During the month of August, I let my postpartum weight loss become secondary to everything else going on. Our schedule grew busier and I did not set aside time for me or for meal planning. Life has a funny way of taking over and before you know it you’re in the deep end of the pool with the water up to your eyeballs. How does that happen? Here is what I learned during my postpartum weight loss part 7.
Don’t Forget Your True Rules
The further we got into the month of August the less I paid attention to my postpartum journey. It was no longer a priority. It wasn’t until hurricane Irma when everything was closed for a week, did I realize that I really needed my routine and my workout time. This got me thinking, about my true rules. Last November I wrote an article titled, Being Mindful: 4 Ways To Be More Mindful, which reminded me about my true rules. A person’s true rules are the values and truths by which one lives their life. The non-negotiables. One of my true rules is remaining active. I love to dance and be active and that got put on the back burner. I forgot about my true rules. Self-care is very important to me and when I do not practice it I notice a big change within me. And not the good kind of change. Getting back to my true rules will be tough but is a must. The saying happy wife happy life doesn’t lie, HOWEVER, that applies to everyone. If you are at your best and happy then life around you will be happy.

Busyness Doesn’t Equal Happiness
As our schedule filled I noticed that our mindset did as well. We got so wrapped up in our schedule that we forgot to connect with each other. Once I noticed how busy we got I began looking outward. What was everyone else doing? Was everyone else just as busy? Yes, most everyone else was just as busy. This observation led to tons of other thoughts. I won’t go into them now but just know being busy does not equal happiness.

Comparing my measurements from last month I did regress. Considering all that we went through in the month of August I am not surprised. Now that I know where my measurements are I can make the appropriate adjustments to get back on track. First starting with better food choices.
