As Valentine’s Day approaches, I was thinking about different ways we can celebrate without having to find a babysitter. Now, we have family that lives very close and we would have no trouble getting a babysitter however, sometimes it is nice to include Baby Sweet on things like Valentine’s day. And recently Michael has been wanting to “spoil” Baby Sweet and I. Which is ok by me! So that got me thinking, what are some creative ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day as a family. Here are my top 10 family Valentine date ideas.
I know this gets put on a lot of “free” date lists but it really is a fun one. Pack a lunch, head over to a local park and enjoy the time outside. It is a great place to tire out the little ones and by the time you get back home they will be ready for a nap which gives mom and dad some time to be alone! 😉
If you are an outdoorsy type of person a walk or hike is a great way to spend some time with the family. It also gets everyone off their devices so they focus on each other.
This is a fun activity with the family or just for mom and dad. Whether you create a brand new recipe or use one you already have, cooking together can be very entertaining.
Watching a movie together is a great family activity that gathers everyone in the same room at the same time. Just imagine everyone snuggling together and fully invested in the same thing!
There are so many multi player games available you are sure to find the one that best fits your family. Here is a list of family games that use items from around your house and here is a list of multi player board games.
If you live in an area that happens to be cold around Valentine’s day, I say this because I do not live in an area where it is usually cold during the month of February, you can build a bon fire and roast s’mores! If s’mores is not something you particularly enjoy you can always cook something different over the fire. Here is a list of camp fire meals that are not s’mores.
Make A Game
Gather all your craft items and create a game together as a family and whatever the game is you HAVE to play it. This will be sure to provide you with plenty of memories!
Write A Story
If your family likes a good story why not create one yourself?! Work together as a team to create a personalized story.
Put on your favorite tunes and dance the night away!
